We are a family run water sports business established from our love of outdoor water based activities and education. Our own experiences and education has led us to now run Sea n Shore offering everything we do to a standard that goes above and beyond what is expected. We love to pride ourselves on being very flexible and can design any course, event or family day to suit you and your dates and times. Our point of difference here is we really do mean it!

Sea N Shore has an unrivalled passion to provide the best water- based leisure training in and around the South Coast of Devon. Our mission is to be a one stop shop for your boating and hospitality. The customer is our second priority as safety is always our first.

SAFETY FIRST

At Sea N Shore, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, operating strictly within the guidelines established by national governing bodies such as the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and British Water Ski & Wakeboard. We are proud to be one of the few centres fully insured to deliver the full range of activities we offer.

With safety as our foremost priority, we continually review and update our procedures and risk assessments to ensure the highest levels of protection across all courses and activities. While customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, safety will always come first.

All of our coded vessels are equipped with comprehensive safety gear, including first aid kits, VHF radios, and life jackets. Furthermore, every instructor at Sea N Shore is a fully qualified andvanced skipper and powerboat instructor, certified in first aid, and holds the necessary radio communication licences.

Meet Ali – Founder of Sea N Shore

In 2008, driven by a lifelong passion for the sea and a vision to inspire others, Ali founded Sea N Shore. Eighteen years on, she continues to lead the business independently, bringing energy, expertise, and dedication to every season.

Ali’s journey with the water began at the age of 12, when she first learned to dive and ski — formative experiences that instilled a belief that with commitment and determination, anything is possible. Launching Sea N Shore during the midst of a recession, Ali built the business from the ground up, nurturing its growth into the successful and respected operation it is today.

Sea N Shore operates seasonally, allowing time each winter to recharge, reflect, and develop exciting new offerings for the year ahead. Supported by a talented team of freelance instructors and skippers, Ali provides a wide range of activities, including RYA powerboat courses, RIB rides, treasure hunts, banana rides and rib coasteering adventures, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Salcombe coastline.

Over nearly two decades of teaching, training, and exploring the waters of Salcombe, Ali has cultivated strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and the local community. Every course, every adventure, and every season reflect the incredible people who have contributed to the Sea N Shore story — a community for which Ali remains deeply grateful.

Ali’s commitment to marine life extends beyond her business. She is a trained Marine Mammal Medic with British Divers Marine Life Rescue, volunteering her time to assist seals and dolphins in distress along the coast. Additionally, she is a proud and active member of the Large Whale Disentanglement Team, traveling particularly to Scotland — for specialist training and complex rescue operations. The team, whom she affectionately describes as her “most splendid group of professional nutters,” train annually with Sea N Shore’s RIBs in Salcombe, and Ali considers them a second family, taking immense pride in their shared mission and camaraderie.

A note from Ali “Someone once asked me what my favourite thing to do in Sea N Shore is. I pondered for a while and replied that I love every single thing I do. Whether the day is filled with teaching wakeboarding, powerboating, first aid, vhf radio or creating treasure hunts, if I didn’t love doing it, I simply wouldn’t offer it. There is so much joy and privilege to spend quality time with customers, to get to know them and empower them with new skills and knowledge. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to work on the water alongside a fantastic network of local businesses that all thrive as we help and encourage one another. All the instructors and skippers I work alongside are my friends, it’s just the way it is, lots of micky taking and sundowners sorts that out.

One downside…seagull poop scrubbing… I know lots of people love seagulls but with all that water to hover over, why do they choose lovely red ribs to target? Maybe it’s lucky….Still if that’s the only thing to moan about, I count myself very, very lucky.”
